Alex Last invites you to participate in a rehearsal of sensory experience, visualisation, and dialogue that delves into ecological entanglement. In a globalised world and living on stolen country, what does it mean to put down roots? If we commit to this landscape, what alternate ways of sensing and processing the world might help us build a more regenerative lutruwita?
To explore these questions, Alex invites participants to become responsible for, and familiar with, an Agapanthus plant. In order to grow both outward and inward, participants will become-other; rehearsing a relation with these uprooted vegetal beings to better comprehend their own mineral entanglements, energetic dependencies and ecological possibilities.
*Further rehearsals will be hosted throughout August. After participating in the introductory session, you will receive an invitation to take part in additional follow-up sessions.
A Fleshy-Rooted Perennial is presented as part of Rehearsing the Future, curated by Sofie Burgoyne for the 2021 Curatorial Mentorship.
