We welcome conversations with contemporary artists and curators about developing projects for presentation in our program

There are many ways to be involved in our artistic programs. We are open to ideas that may be presented in the gallery, off-site, online, or as part of our public engagement or other programs. We encourage submissions from individuals or groups that have contemporary relevance, are experimental, and that demonstrate project viability.

Be mindful that the exhibition program is developed 12–18 months in advance. If there is a reason for a specific project timeframe, this can be included in the project outline. Please note that project budgets are limited and that ambitious projects will require additional external resources.

The program committee meets five times each year to curate the artistic program. The committee may request more details or recommend that proposals or projects be further developed in consultation with CAT staff.

CAT values diversity and is committed to equal opportunity and encourages the involvement of artists of all backgrounds, abilities and identities. Submissions from undergraduate students cannot be accepted.

To submit an expression of interest, or if you have questions or require assistance with pitching your idea, please contact CAT curator, Kylie Johnson kylie@contemporaryart.org.au // 03 6231 0445. For EOIs, include: subject heading – CAT Proposal Artist/Curator Name – and an outline of your current or upcoming projects in development.
