This was the first 3 into 1 exhibition at CAST. This exhibition format, in which the gallery is given over to three concurrent solo installations by early career artists, has become an annually recurring feature of the CAST Program. The 2002 3 into 1 showcased new work by artists Anthony Johnson, Peter Robinson and Heather Swann.
The gallery was divided into three unequal parts and each artist created an installation. Anthony Johnson contrasted the alienated spaces of urban development with the popularisation of DIY construction. Peter Robinson combined the innocence of childhood collection fads, like Pokemon cards, with sophisticated marketing strategies and Heather Swann displayed hybrid symbolic sculptures.
