The Making Sense project represents a new way of working for CAST. It meets the organisation’s commitment to exploring different project models, new modes of engagement and resourcing artists.
This key off-site initiative will employ contemporary art as a means of contributing to social/digital inclusion and regional economic development. In partnership with Dorset Council, the Department of Employment, Education and Workplace Relations, Presbyterian Aged Care and Linc Scottsdale, Hum@n Venture (Andrew Gibbs and Brooke Newell) and Anita Bacic were engaged to work with local unemployed youth and Presbyterian Aged Care clients in Scottsdale. Their aim was to realise a range of social, economic and artistic ends by working with local narratives and digital video and animation technologies.
CAST is leading this initiative with the help of creative industries consultant, Jock McQueenie. Jock’s project design methodology, the 3Cs – Community, Culture, Commerce model, designs cross-sector partnerships and projects in which the creativity of professionals from all artforms is pivotal to delivering social and economic outcomes. The Scottsdale project will assist the organisation to secure future project partners and resources to develop larger scale projects with broad scope and exciting potential.
