The end of the old heavens and earth is emphasised in the book of Revelation. There is little doubt that the authors of these works thought the world as we know it will literally end. Problem is, after an ending, a fresh beginning inevitably follows. Apocalypse is frequently seen as the end—a definitive halt, even though it isn’t.

The dialler automatically sends a call to an available agent (in effect, it transfers the call to the agent’s phone) if it is answered by a live person rather than an answering machine, fax machine, or modem, the latter two of which are becoming increasingly rare these days.
